A couple of ads, straight from the bottom of the barrel (at Prague Airport, which by the way, is a really flash place). Air France bought it a while back and sunk some coin into it, no doubt predicting the tourist boom. I’m sure it’s since passed to local ownership but who really owns what these days anyway? Czech Airlines were pretty stellar, great service, good atmosphere. About as far from our experience with Austria’s national carrier as you can imagine. Nothing, however, can excuse these two gems:

So we’re watching Notting Hill in London at the moment, as it happens we’re only a couple of streets from where it was filmed… Anyway, i’ve got a few days to make up for on the blog writing front! Ok so the dogs, really it must be a western affluence thing…. It does amaze me what excuses we can find for not looking after our fellow man first. This one from Rome:

Happy new year everyone! What did you all get up to? We partied it up in the streets of Rome, it felt like the whole city emptied out to celebrate. This culminated in an epic fireworks display, though hundreds of people in the square were setting their own off as well. They get to have all the fun ones that got banned back home for being too dangerous, hehe. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, i’ve never had a new years like this! As it turns out, the rest of the apartments in our building are filled with australians, so we hung out with them for the evening.. they live near gran in sydney - small world, much?

it’s been a couple of days since i’ve had internet access, finally found some at a cafe that charges an extortionate 4.80 an hour.. ouch. I just plugged my camera in to upload shots but the cafe won’t let me use it.. stink…

Rome is amazing, really feel like we’re back in the west properly now, people seem much more normal, if not frustratingly laid back - the complete antithesis of Austria. Food is amazing, the city buzzes all day and all night, and it’s a much toastier 10 degrees!
